The excavation phase of the A-5 tunnel works in Alcorcón is nearing completion, with the key date of May 25 set for the conclusion of work in the Madrid outbound direction.

Since the undergrounding project began last year, residents of Alcorcón have experienced disruptions due to the ongoing construction. However, the end of this crucial stage is in sight, as confirmed by a municipal spokesperson.
Although the A-5 tunnel is scheduled to open to traffic on May 25, it has been clarified that a period for its adaptation and conditioning will be required afterward. Vehicles are expected to be able to use it starting in December.

"Even though the A-5 tunnel will open to traffic next May 25, its adaptation and conditioning must be carried out afterwards."

This news has been met with optimism by residents, as the works are progressing at a good pace. These projects are considered among the most important of the current legislative term and are expected to significantly improve comfort and traffic flow in the Alcorcón area.
