The city of Alcorcón has unveiled the 'Terrace World Cup', an original competition aiming to highlight local hospitality businesses through citizen votes on social media.

Eight establishments with terraces will compete in knockout duels over several weeks. Residents of Alcorcón will be responsible for choosing the winner through votes on the Instagram account of alcorconhoy.com, the initiative's organizer.
The main objective of this initiative is to generate participation, reach, and interaction among residents, customers, and local businesses. Participating establishments will encourage their followers to vote for their favorite terraces, involving the entire city in the selection process.
The tournament will kick off on June 11 with the presentation of participants and initial matchups. The quarterfinals will take place between June 16 and July 1, the semifinals from July 6 to 11, and the grand final on July 16. The winning terrace will be announced on July 21.
Voting will be conducted via polls in 'reels' posted on Instagram. In case of a tie, an additional 24-hour Instagram story will be opened for a new vote; if the tie persists, it will be decided by a draw. Transparency will be ensured with screenshots of the results.
The eight participating terraces are: O’Pulpiño Ensanche Sur, Acebo, Bar Avenida, El Trasgu, La Tarada, La Patrona, Tobby’s Grill, and Bunji the place.
Under the slogan “Alcorcón chooses its best terrace. It's not football, but it's played hard here too,” this initiative seeks to emulate sports competition to highlight the best of the local hospitality sector.
