The municipality of Alcorcon will soon feature four new dog areas, bringing the total number of facilities across the town to 26. The new zones will be located on Berlin Street, Fuente Cisneros, Carballino Street, and Lisbon Avenue, in addition to a space in the Corredor Verde del Ensanche Sur. These projects are already in the execution phase.
The Alcorcon City Council has highlighted the investment in renovating over 13,000 m² designated for dog areas, a plan that has required seven years of work. According to the Councilor for Parks and Gardens, Raúl Toledano, these actions aim to provide "healthy and communal spaces" for animals and their owners, addressing the demand generated by the increase in the dog population locally.
In addition to the new areas, five additional dog zones have been launched, covering nearly 5,700 m² and representing an investment of over 44,000 euros in locations such as Móstoles Avenue, the Old Cemetery, Alfredo Nobel Street, Darwin Sur Park, and Paco Rabal Actor Park. These new facilities include agility circuits and double gates. Concurrently, comprehensive rehabilitation of nine other existing areas has been undertaken, spanning over 7,600 m² and an investment of nearly 77,000 euros in parks like Alegría Street, Brazil Square, Olímpico Francisco Fernández Ochoa Avenue, La Paz Park, La República Park, Los Castillos Park, Los Madroños Park, and La Ribota Park.
In parallel, the council has requested the installation of 11 new drinking water fountains in various municipal parks. This initiative, managed with the Canal de Isabel II, will facilitate water access for both residents and their pets, thereby completing the enhancement of public space services.
