These municipal grants primarily aim to promote sports activities and participation in non-professional official competitions. The total amount is divided into €600,000 for grassroots sports and €70,000 for elite teams.
Additionally, a specific fund of €30,000 has been allocated for women's sports scholarships, as announced by the Councilor for Youth, Diversity, Technological Innovation, and Sport, Carmen Martín. These scholarships will be awarded directly to support female athletes for the 2026-2027 season.
“"Entities are the engine of sport in the city, and precisely for this reason, it is necessary for them to have effective resources and support to facilitate the development of their athletes' activities."
The application period will open after the call for applications is published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid. These subsidies are expected to benefit over 40 sports clubs and entities across various disciplines, as well as more than 17,000 local athletes.
Carmen Martín highlighted the progressive increase in these grants over recent years, noting that the amount allocated to subsidies doubled between 2021 and 2022, from €200,000 to €400,000. In 2025, €600,000 was consolidated as a minimum, and this year the figure rises to €670,000, representing a 53 percent increase during the current term.
These grants are in addition to other initiatives implemented by the council, such as the continuous improvement of sports facilities, including football fields, and the free allocation of spaces to sports clubs.
