The proposal, to be debated in an extraordinary plenary session this Thursday, June 11, aims to prevent users from incurring additional costs while the planned actions on the railway infrastructure are carried out. The Ministry of Transport, the Community of Madrid, and the Regional Consortium are urged to establish the necessary mechanisms for this.
The amendment also calls for a working meeting between the Ministry, Renfe, Adif, and the City Council to coordinate the works schedule, understand their scope, and minimize the impact on daily mobility. The Councilor for Mobility, Trinidad Castillo, recalled the coordination and information shortcomings experienced during the A-5 works.
In addition to measures for the C-5 disruptions, the initiative includes long-standing demands such as improving urban transport frequencies to 7.5 minutes during peak hours, reinforcing high-demand interurban lines, and restoring direct connections to the Príncipe Pío interchange.
The Community of Madrid is urged to study connectivity improvements in the south of the municipality and the Ensanche Sur neighborhood, including the proposed extension of Metro Line 10. Regarding the railway, a feasibility study for a new stop at Fuente Cisneros is requested, along with proposals for improved permeability between San José de Valderas and Alcorcón Central stations, such as partial tunneling or covering of the line.
The mayor, Candelaria Testa, positively assessed the state's investment plan of 1.350 million euros for the comprehensive reform of the C-5 and expressed the City Council's willingness to collaborate in developing a mobility plan and informing citizens during these "historic" works.
