This initiative aims to commemorate the International Day to Combat Hate Speech and World Refugee Day, fostering coexistence and highlighting the local cultural richness, as explained by the Councilor for Social Services and Disability, Pilar Jiménez.
The program begins at 6:00 PM with the batucada group Batuké from IES Jorge Guillén. Following the institutional opening at 6:30 PM, a central moment will be the Regional Costume Parade at 6:45 PM, showcasing traditional attire from countries such as El Salvador, Honduras, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Japan, China, Morocco, Germany, and Ukraine, alongside African costumes.
The event will also feature Ukrainian dance exhibitions and various craft and clothing stalls set up in the square. Later, at 7:30 PM, the ‘International Designers Fashion Catwalk’ will take place, featuring creators from Ecuador, El Salvador, Peru, Bolivia, and Ukraine, as well as a presentation blending influences from Japan and Italy.
The festivities will conclude with live music starting at 9:15 PM, featuring performances by Battleshock, an emerging rock and heavy metal band from Alcorcón, and Capitalsong, a group specializing in Latin American salsa.
This activity is part of the III Alcorcón Encounter Between Cultures and is promoted by the Intercultural Coexistence Table of the Council for Social Services and Disability. This body brings together social and community entities from the municipality, including Cruz Roja, CEAR, Asociación ALBA, Solidaridad sin Fronteras, Asociación Dyvosvit, NEXO por la Integración, and AMOMIC, among other organizations focused on promoting inclusion and coexistence.
Pilar Jiménez also highlighted the work of the Coexistence Table in integrating migrants and people of different ethnicities, as well as promoting community participation. She also underscored the collaboration of the Red de Mujeres Latinas and ACOES in developing this initiative.
