On April 15, 2026, Alcorcón celebrated the remarkable 101st birthday of Rosa, a long-standing resident. To mark this significant milestone, Mayor Candelaria Testa and the Councilor for Feminism, Seniors, and Citizen Participation, Sonia López Cedena, visited her home. They surprised the centenarian with a bouquet of flowers, a gesture highlighting the municipal recognition of its elderly citizens.
In the political arena, the waste fee has sparked an intense debate. The Popular Party of Alcorcón has submitted a motion requesting the suspension of this fee for 2026 and the reimbursement of amounts they consider improperly collected. According to the group, the current ordinance has technical and legal deficiencies that lead to unequal application. The PP's proposal also includes the return of amounts corresponding to 2025 and 2026, specific measures for commercial galleries, and the future elimination of the fee. Although the municipal government has not yet accepted these requests, it has commissioned a report to evaluate the possible suspension of collection for the coming year.
Culture has also found its place on the local agenda. Last week, the Buero Vallejo Theater hosted over 1,500 young people from the municipality for the performance of Invisible, an adaptation of Eloy Moreno's well-known book, presented by the company La Joven. Following the show, the Councilor for Youth, Carmen Martín Rubio, met with attendees and actors, fostering a space for dialogue about the play and its impact.
Furthermore, the spokesperson for VOX in Alcorcón, Pedro Moreno, has raised concerns about the condition of several parks and green areas in the municipality. Through social media, he shared a video recorded in Parque de La Paz, showing a dry fountain and a deteriorated pirate ship structure in the children's area, with only the masts remaining, highlighting the need for maintenance in these public spaces.
