The Alcorcón City Council has approved the tender for the construction of a roof over the playground and sports court at Gloria Fuertes Park, located on Jabonería Street, with an investment of 302,195.78 euros.

The project involves building a structure with wooden beams, metallic pillars, and a translucent polycarbonate roof. This choice of materials aims to ensure the safety of the enclosure while maintaining adequate natural light within the space.

"This new installation responds to the demands of residents to improve the usability of the space. The roof will facilitate the use of these facilities by students from CEIP Santiago Ramón y Cajal and children from the neighborhood throughout the year, thus promoting sports practice, leisure, and free time. Furthermore, it addresses the creation of new spaces that function as urban climate shelters."

The roof will include an energy-saving LED lighting system, allowing for extended use of the facilities and improving visibility and safety. Additionally, two retractable and mobile grandstand modules, each accommodating 32 spectators, will be installed to host audiences for scheduled municipal activities.

"These new additions enhance the court's usability, giving it a more versatile character and providing the neighborhood with new infrastructure for various activities."

This intervention completes the City Council's commitment to providing a multifunctional space on Jabonería Street, such as Gloria Fuertes Park. This park already serves CEIP Santiago Ramón y Cajal with a play area for its students and a parking zone that has improved accessibility to the Ramón y Cajal Health Center. It also functions as a commuter parking facility near the Metrosur Parque de Lisboa station and offers residents a new area for recreation and relaxation, with various amenities catering to different age groups.
