The Government has authorized an investment of 32 million euros for the renovation of signaling systems on the C-5 Cercanías line, affecting the section between Embajadores and Móstoles-El Soto, which includes stations in Alcorcón.

The Council of Ministers gave the green light last Tuesday to this significant economic injection aimed at improving railway infrastructure. The action will focus on the 20.7-kilometer route connecting Embajadores with Móstoles-El Soto, covering a total of eleven stations. For the municipality of Alcorcón, the beneficiary stations will be Alcorcón Central, San José de Valderas, and Las Retamas.
This investment is part of a broader modernization plan for the C-5 line, recognized as having the highest passenger traffic within the entire Madrid Cercanías network. The main objective is to optimize operational performance and prepare the line for the future implementation of the European railway traffic management system.
The project involves replacing current systems with state-of-the-art equipment. This includes the installation of new electronic interlockings at stations such as Aluche, Embajadores, Cuatro Vientos, and Móstoles-El Soto, in addition to a complete renovation of lateral signaling. Track circuits will also be implemented, the Asfa Digital system will be deployed, and a new blocking system will be incorporated in the section between Móstoles-El Soto and Laguna, increasing operational capacity. The comprehensive renovation plan for the C-5 anticipates a total investment of 650 million euros.
