The Community of Madrid has approved an investment of 24.7 million euros for the construction of a new high school in the Los Molinos neighborhood (Getafe) and the completion of the Eduardo Capa center in Arganda del Rey, adding 1,505 new educational places.

The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid gave the green light this Wednesday to the contracting of the works, which have an execution period of 15 months. The Minister of Education, Science and Universities, Mercedes Zarzalejo, detailed that the project aims to expand the public offering of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and Baccalaureate in both locations.
The new high school in Getafe, located in the Los Molinos neighborhood, will feature 20 ESO classrooms and eight Baccalaureate classrooms, in addition to complementary spaces such as five double-sized classrooms, five support rooms, 10 seminar rooms, and specific areas. The design includes an administrative zone, a gymnasium, and a library conceived as a multipurpose space with a separate entrance. 14,581,424 euros will be allocated to this project, which will also incorporate an image and design classroom for community activities.
In Arganda del Rey, the works on the Eduardo Capa high school, whose first phase is already operational, will be completed. This intervention will add 15 Secondary classrooms and 10 Baccalaureate classrooms, along with nine specific classrooms for IT, technology, laboratories, drawing, music, and image and design. The center will also have spaces for small groups, an administrative area, a gymnasium, and sports courts, with an allocation of 10,165,839 euros.
Both initiatives are part of the Educational Infrastructure Plan of the current legislature, which has already completed 78 works in the region, including 12 new centers and 66 expansions. This plan, with a budget exceeding 231 million euros, has generated more than 16,000 educational places, representing an approximate monthly investment of 7 million euros in educational infrastructure.
