The Alcorcón City Council has launched an initiative to curb illegal dumping in the municipality, installing mobile surveillance cameras in the most affected areas.

This measure comes in response to over 1,000 illegal dumps detected by forest rangers in large peripheral cities of the Community of Madrid. The goal is to significantly reduce these harmful practices.
The cameras, located at the four most problematic spots, include devices capable of reading vehicle license plates both day and night. Their primary function is deterrent, in line with the municipal government's policy to address this recurring issue during the current legislative term.

Offenders will face fines ranging from several thousand euros up to 300,000 euros, depending on the quantity and type of waste dumped. These acts not only degrade the environment but also directly affect public health.
The installation of these cameras is part of a comprehensive strategy that seeks to prevent, involve, and educate residents to avoid such incidents. The new surveillance is expected to contribute to a notable reduction in illegal dumping.
