The Bellas Artes Theater once again hosts a distinguished performer who, on this occasion, recreates the figure of a fundamental friend and colleague in his career. The actor, originally from Chinchón, takes on a solo performance of a text he himself adapted from his companion's memoirs, titled El tiempo amarillo.
These memoirs not only reveal personal and professional episodes of the author but also offer a vivid portrait of Madrid during the Second Republic, the Civil War, and the post-war period. The work, which previously inspired an earlier production five years ago at the theater in Plaza de Colón, is now presented as a complete show after a successful tour across Spain.
“"The writer Delibes taught me to see, the comedian Fernán-Gómez, to listen."
The deep friendship between both artists, forged over many years, allows the actor to approach this recreation with an intimate knowledge of the story. The show blends the voices of both protagonists, with echoes of the women who were crucial in their lives during adolescence and the transition to youth. The actor recalls starring in El viaje a ninguna parte, a work his colleague wrote and directed, narrating the vicissitudes of itinerant theater companies and their confrontation with the rise of cinema.
Cinema was a key unifying factor for these two artists, both as actors and directors. While one achieved recognition as one of the great Spanish personalities of the 20th century, the other, nearing ninety years old, has enjoyed unanimous critical and public acclaim for decades. Tirelessly, the actor tours Spanish cities with this dramatized tribute to a man who had a great influence on his life. The play El hijo de la cómica will be performed at the Bellas Artes Theater until June 28.
