This plan, to be executed through 42 actions funded by the Regional Investment Program (PIR) 2022-2026, primarily seeks to modernize the road network. The goal is not only to reduce travel times but also to provide safer, more comfortable, and efficient routes for the approximately 250,000 residents who will benefit.
During the project's presentation, the Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, emphasized that addressing the needs of smaller towns is a commitment to territorial cohesion and equal opportunities. Meanwhile, the Minister of Housing, Transport, and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, highlighted that the investments will ensure more efficient communications and contribute to the region's structure, ensuring no municipality is left behind.
The plan includes various areas of action. Seventeen million euros will be allocated to the refurbishment of urban crossings and access roads in 16 municipalities, covering nearly 30 kilometers of routes. Among the beneficiary municipalities are Becerril de la Sierra, Cercedilla, Chinchón, Collado Mediano, Colmenarejo, El Boalo-Cerceda-Mataelpino, Fuente el Saz de Jarama, Guadarrama, Los Molinos, Moralzarzal, Pozuelo del Rey, Puentes Viejas, Tielmes, Villamanta, Villanueva de Perales, and Villarejo de Salvanés.
Additionally, 19 million euros will be dedicated to the construction and rehabilitation of cycle lanes, totaling 47 kilometers in towns such as Ciempozuelos, Fuente el Saz de Jarama, Loeches, Lozoya, Meco, and Soto del Real.
The improvement of pedestrian accessibility will receive close to 3.5 million euros for ten projects in municipalities including Berzosa del Lozoya, Cervera de Buitrago, Loeches, Nuevo Baztán, San Agustín del Guadalix, Santa María de la Alameda, Talamanca de Jarama, Valdelaguna, Valdilecha, and Villamanrique de Tajo.
Finally, the program encompasses the construction of six new intersections and the resurfacing of two road sections spanning 25 kilometers, with a budget of 18.8 million euros. These works will benefit Aldea del Fresno, Bustarviejo, Colmenar de Oreja, Daganzo de Arriba, Lozoyuela, Puebla de la Sierra, Robledillo de la Jara, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and Valdilecha.
The initial interventions on urban crossings are scheduled to begin in the last quarter of this year, with the remaining works to be carried out throughout 2027, as part of the regional government's 2025-2032 Road Plan.
