Madrid invests €10 million to improve sewage systems in three Sierra municipalities

The works, to be carried out by Canal de Isabel II, will benefit Chapinería, Fresnedillas de la Oliva, and Santa María de la Alameda.

The Community of Madrid has authorized an investment of nearly €10 million for the improvement of the sewage network in the municipalities of Chapinería, Fresnedillas de la Oliva, and Santa María de la Alameda. The works will be executed by the public entity Canal de Isabel II.

This action is part of the Plan Sanea, an initiative aimed at populations with fewer than 2,500 inhabitants. The regional government's objective is to guarantee sewage services under equal conditions throughout the region by addressing existing deficiencies in operation and maintenance, and by renewing hydraulic infrastructures with more efficient ones.
In Chapinería, €3.5 million will be allocated to improve the sanitation network, given the advanced state of deterioration of its PVC and concrete collectors, as well as its brick-built inspection chambers.
For Fresnedillas de la Oliva, a budget of approximately €2.6 million has been approved. The renovation of the sewage system is necessary as several streets in the urban area lack this infrastructure, and the existing collectors present accessibility and hydraulic capacity problems.
Finally, in Santa María de la Alameda, €3.8 million will be invested. In this municipality, sections of the sanitation network have been detected that hinder maintenance and inspection tasks, in addition to deficiencies in the connections of homes to this infrastructure.
In all three municipalities, the regional government will finance 76% of the total cost of the works through direct aid, while the respective town councils will contribute the remaining 24%.
