Train services on the C-8a line of Cercanías Madrid have been suspended between El Escorial and Zarzalejo since 5:30 PM today following the derailment of a freight train.

The incident occurred when several axles of the freight train left the tracks, as reported by an ADIF spokesperson. The derailment caused the train to obstruct the adjacent track, necessitating the suspension of all traffic in both directions until the affected train is removed.
ADIF personnel are currently on-site working to remove the derailed train with the aim of reopening the affected section as soon as possible.
As an alternative measure for medium-distance trains affected by this incident, a transport plan has been established, including road transfers between the Zarzalejo and El Escorial stations.
