The initiative, funded by the Community of Madrid with 99,965.15 euros, involved the complete replacement of exterior joinery in the municipal rental housing block. The goal is to ensure tenant thermal comfort and reduce heating consumption.
The old, obsolete, and deteriorated windows suffered significant heat loss due to single glazing and lack of thermal break. The new high-efficiency PVC structures feature double glazing and shutters, improving insulation and light and thermal control.
The work respected the municipality's architectural heritage. The new PVC frames have a wood-look finish, maintaining the original dimensions of the facade openings. Additionally, the exterior wooden lintels have been restored with a high-resistance varnish to withstand extreme climates.
