The workshops, developed by menstrual educator Raquel Sandín Nava, creator of the educational project 13 Lunas, aim to transform taboos in the school environment. This initiative, supported by the management team of CEIP de El Vellón and the El Vellón City Council, fosters values such as camaraderie, empathy, and respect among students.
Law 1/2023 ensures that this training is provided continuously and progressively throughout compulsory education, adapting content to each stage. Its relevance lies in starting the training at early ages, before the onset of menarche, allowing students to grow up with natural and prejudice-free knowledge about their own bodies.
“"Everything we don't talk about becomes a taboo."
The inclusion of both boys and girls in this training contributes to building a shared understanding of this natural process, reducing stigma and preventing bullying. By starting this education in childhood, the communication channel remains open, making it easier for students to approach menstruation more naturally when the time comes.
With this initiative, the CEIP de El Vellón and the City Council reinforce their commitment to innovative, inclusive education focused on student well-being, positioning themselves as a benchmark in the Community of Madrid for implementing menstrual education in classrooms.
