The feminist mural in the La Concepción neighborhood of Ciudad Lineal (Madrid) was vandalized on March 8, 2021, covered in black on International Women's Day. The artwork, created to highlight key women and advocate for equality, suffered an attack that prompted an artistic and poetic response.
Following this act, Ángeles Fernangómez decided to channel her indignation through poetry, transforming the mural into a space for memory and resistance. This initiative led to the creation of Mural de resistencia. Poesía por la igualdad y el desagravio, a book that turns the response to the incident into words and reclamation.
The work will be presented on Friday, September 25, at 7:00 PM in the Plaza del Campillo in Gargantilla del Lozoya. The author, Ángeles Fernangómez, will be joined by Rafael García Gutiérrez, mayor of Gargantilla del Lozoya y Pinilla de Buitrago; Vanessa Panelli McDowall, sociocultural animator; and Miguel Ángel Hernández, from QuerER Editorial.
