The Galapagar Town Council has taken a significant step towards universal accessibility by installing an inclusive swing with an adapted walkway in Saturnino Fernández Park in La Navata, allowing children with reduced mobility to enjoy play on equal terms.

The initiative, which responds to a request from a local family, is part of the council's commitment to building a fully accessible and inclusive municipality. An investment of 7,900 euros has enabled the creation of a walkway and the incorporation of a swing designed to guarantee the safety and accessibility for all children.
These adapted swings feature special seats, restraint systems, and ergonomic backrests, facilitating their use for both children and their companions. The measure seeks to foster coexistence and shared enjoyment of public spaces, removing barriers to play.

"This action responds to a real need expressed by residents and reflects the model of municipality we want to build: a Galapagar where all children can play and enjoy our public spaces equally. Inclusion is not an option; it is an obligation as an administration, and we must guarantee it in all areas, including leisure and play."

José María Escudero · Councillor for Inclusion and Accessibility
The Galapagar Town Council aims to extend these types of facilities throughout the municipality, ensuring that each area has at least one adapted playground. Municipal authorities have indicated that they will continue to listen to the demands of families to move towards a more accessible and inclusive Galapagar for all its citizens.
