Four individuals were rescued this Saturday with minor injuries, including sprains and dislocations, after suffering falls while hiking in the municipalities of Cercedilla, Navacerrada, and San Lorenzo de El Escorial, as reported by Emergencias 112 Comunidad de Madrid.
The affected individuals sustained various injuries, such as ankle sprains and shoulder and knee dislocations. Rescue operations involved personnel from the Fire Department, Forest Agents, and medical staff from Summa 112.
In two of the cases, the challenging access to the areas necessitated the intervention of the Special Mountain Rescue Group (GERA), which specializes in complex high-altitude situations.
Emergencias 112 authorities have reiterated the importance of exercising caution when hiking. They advise carrying appropriate gear, selecting routes that match one's physical fitness, being vigilant for unexpected weather shifts, and ensuring mobile phones have ample battery life to contact 112 if an emergency arises.
