The event, which coincided with World Parkinson's Day on April 11, was inaugurated by the mayor of Collado Villalba, Mariola Vargas, and Carmen Blázquez, a board member of the Parkinson's Madrid Association.
During the conference, in addition to discussing various aspects of the disease, significant progress made by the Parkinson's Madrid Association at its Collado Villalba facilities was highlighted. Thanks to municipal support, the former Mío Cid School has undergone major renovations since its transfer in 2022, including room adaptations, renovation of sanitary and heating systems, and painting work.
Currently, the center features a multi-purpose gym and several adapted rooms for workshops and specific activities aimed at individuals affected by this neurodegenerative disease.
“"The relevance of establishing this headquarters in Collado Villalba is facilitating access to the services offered by the association, designed to improve the quality of life for patients and their families."
The Parkinson's Madrid Association, a non-profit organization founded in May 1994 with over 2,000 members, aims to provide care, guidance, and information to those affected, their families, and caregivers. Services offered include specialized rehabilitation workshops, social activities, and psychological and socio-health care.
