The Council of Soto del Real learned through the media that the completion of the works to expand the third lane of the M-607 has been delayed until November 2027. This modification will extend the mobility disruptions in the northern area of Madrid for several months.
The City Council recalls that on February 18, during a meeting with representatives from the Directorate General of Roads, the need for permanent coordination with affected municipalities and periodic progress review meetings was raised. However, the Council states it has not received any official notification or meeting invitation regarding the change in execution deadlines.
Having this information in advance is crucial for adequately informing residents, anticipating potential disruptions, and communicating municipal needs to the responsible administration. While acknowledging the importance of the infrastructure and the complexity of its execution, effective coordination between administrations is considered essential, especially when planning modifications directly impact citizens' daily lives.
This complaint follows previous actions by the City Council, both individually and in coordination with other municipalities in the Sierra Norte, to address mobility difficulties and request measures to reduce traffic jams, improve work planning, enhance public transport alternatives, and ensure advance information on closures and incidents.
With this new communication, the City Council requests that the Directorate General of Roads provide prior notification to affected municipalities of any significant changes in execution deadlines or traffic conditions on the M-607. It also calls for the resumption of periodic follow-up meetings proposed in February, enabling municipalities to receive updated information and report on issues detected on the ground.
