The Soto del Real City Council has decided to temporarily maintain the alternative water supply through tanker trucks and bottled water, even though complementary analyses from the Isabel II Canal confirm the water is suitable for human consumption.

The results of the analyses, conducted after the detection of microalgae in the Los Palancares Reservoir last Wednesday, show values that permit water use for human consumption. However, the council, after evaluating the situation with municipal technicians and Isabel II Canal officials, has opted for maximum prudence.
The three tanker trucks stationed at different points in the municipality and bottled water distributions will continue, including a home delivery service for the elderly, dependent, or those with mobility issues. In the first two days, 75,460 liters of water have been distributed.
The definitive connection to the Isabel II Canal network is expected for early this week. This connection will provide an alternative supply while works are carried out on the Los Palancares Reservoir, with a budget of 48,395.04 euros, to improve its impermeability and reinforce its structure.
The City Council has thanked the residents of Soto del Real for their patience, understanding, and responsibility during this exceptional situation, as well as the collaboration of all entities and professionals involved in the operation.
