The San Lorenzo de El Escorial City Council and Red Cross have renewed their collaboration agreement to continue the Children's Day Center project, an initiative that since 2023 has offered socio-educational support to minors and assistance to vulnerable families in the municipality.

The project, carried out in the classrooms of the CEIP San Lorenzo Sports Center, is aimed at children aged between 3 and 12 years residing in the municipality who show signs of socio-educational risk. Its objective is to promote their integral development, prevent exclusion, and strengthen families' role in education and upbringing.
Since its inception, the Children's Day Center has served an average of 35 minors from 25 families annually. Approximately half of the participating families are of foreign origin, and 20% of the minors attended have special educational needs, highlighting the importance of tailored support.
Through this program, Red Cross provides resources and tools to families to address the needs related to their children's upbringing, education, and socialization. The intervention focuses on direct support for minors, early detection of risks, promotion of work-life balance, and shared responsibility in care. The project maintains close coordination with the municipality's educational, health, and social services.
The Children's Day Center offers a program that combines educational reinforcement with recreational, cultural, and personal development activities, including academic support, leisure and free time activities, artistic education, reading promotion, education for coexistence, responsible use of new technologies, environmental education, and health and personal care habits.

"With the continuation of this collaboration, the San Lorenzo de El Escorial City Council maintains its support for a socio-educational resource that helps prevent risk situations, promote equal opportunities, and strengthen the well-being of minors and their families, recognizing the work that Red Cross carries out in the municipality."
