The extraordinary plenary session held last Thursday, October 15, failed to approve four projects promoted by the government team, valued at over 500,000 euros, which aimed to address urgent repairs and the modernization of municipal facilities.
The vote saw support from the Popular Party (7 votes) and Contigo (1), while VMP (4), PSOE (2), VOX (1), MEC (1), and the Non-Attached (1) voted against, preventing the execution of the works.
The rejected projects included the urgent repair of roofs at the Sports Center and Library (106,000 €) to fix damage from storms; the comprehensive renovation of the Municipal Gym equipment (220,000 €) due to intensive use and recurring breakdowns; the replacement of the Municipal Pool's dehumidification system (127,000 €) to ensure sanitary conditions and regulatory compliance; and the rehabilitation and reactivation of the Spa (146,000 €), closed since 2021.
The government team regrets the opposition's lack of support, calling the paralysis of these investments a setback for public services and warning that it will significantly increase future maintenance and repair costs for public buildings.
