The Moralzarzal City Council has launched a free salt distribution service for residents in anticipation of frost and the arrival of cold weather, aiming to prevent accidents and ensure safety.

Distribution will take place over two weekends in November. The distribution days will be November 7, 8, 14, and 15, between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The collection point will be at the municipal warehouse in the livestock industrial estate.
To ensure equitable distribution, a maximum of two 5 kg bags per household will be provided. Proof of residency in Moralzarzal (ID card, registration, or supporting document) will be mandatory. The salt is exclusively for treating public roads, pedestrian access, home entrances, and garage ramps, and is not suitable for consumption.
Salt is effective for melting snow and ice. It is recommended to spread it evenly to avoid accumulation and protect infrastructure, as it can accelerate metal oxidation. During handling, use gloves, avoid direct contact with clothing, and do not touch eyes or mouth; wash immediately with plenty of water if accidental contact occurs.
If salt remains at the end of the season, unopened bags can be stored in a cool, shaded place, protected from water and heat, for 2 to 3 years. Opened bags, if properly sealed and kept in a completely dry space, will remain in good condition for an additional year. Those without storage space can request collection from the City Council after winter.
