A 23-year-old operator was seriously injured this Monday midday after falling from scaffolding approximately six meters high. The accident occurred while he was carrying out setup work for one of the concerts scheduled for the San Lorenzo de El Escorial festivities.
The incident took place around 12:10 PM, according to information provided by 112 Community of Madrid Emergency Services. The worker sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. After being stabilized by a SUMMA 112 team, he was transferred in critical condition to the Puerta de Hierro University Hospital in Majadahonda via an air ambulance that landed at the Monastery's Lonja itself.
Local Police officers also responded to the scene of the accident. The incident occurs on a significant day for the town, as today marks the feast day of San Lorenzo, the patron saint of the municipality, with a tribute concert and a performance by the Orquesta Vulkano Show scheduled.
