The incident began around 6:30 in the morning in a building located at Calle Fraguas, 10. Apparently, the fire started in the building's meter room, a structure with two floors plus a street level, and spread quickly. Smoke filled the hallways, leaving residents without conventional escape routes and causing moments of panic.
Faced with the emergency, several citizens reacted heroically, bringing domestic ladders outside to reach the balconies where the family desperately awaited rescue. This citizen intervention occurred in the critical interval between the initial call and the arrival of professional emergency services, according to sources from Emergencias 112 de la Comunidad de Madrid. The firefighters' response time was 10 minutes.
Several videos recorded by local residents show citizens helping the family descend safely from the balconies to the street. Subsequently, officers from the Local Police arrived with fire extinguishers to help contain the flames.
