The Los Morales tent in Soto del Real will host the potato omelette contest on August 3rd, which this year introduces three categories to accommodate more participants.

The town of Soto del Real is preparing to celebrate a new edition of its traditional potato omelette contest, which will take place on August 3rd at 1:00 PM in the Los Morales tent, as part of the Patron Saint Festivities. The main novelty this year is the expansion to three participation categories, aiming to offer more options to residents wishing to present their culinary creations.
Participants can choose between the best traditional omelette category, which accepts both versions with and without onion. The second category will award the most original omelette, encouraging creativity with innovative ingredients or presentations. Finally, the third category will focus on the largest omelette, adding a spectacle element to the competition. This division aims to encompass different cooking styles, from the most classic to the most daring.
To register, the organization has provided two methods. Participants can send an email to produccioneventos@ayto-sotodelreal.es to reserve a spot in advance, or register in person at the Los Morales tent starting at 12:00 PM, one hour before the contest begins. This latter option allows last-minute decision-makers to sign up.
Each of the three categories will have its own prize: a box of experiences for two people. This award aims to increase the chances of different residents winning, recognizing diverse culinary approaches.
This year's contest benefits from the collaboration of the Asociación de Mujeres Soto en Femenino (Women's Association Soto in Feminine), joining the organization of this deeply rooted activity in the town's festive calendar. These gastronomic contests are valued for their high neighbor participation, allowing anyone, professional or amateur cook, to share their recipe with the community.
The potato omelette, an emblematic dish of Spanish gastronomy, once again takes center stage in Soto del Real as a meeting point during the patron saint festivities. The event at Los Morales is poised to be one of the most anticipated gastronomic moments, and the expansion to three categories seeks to ensure that all residents find their niche, whether defending the traditional recipe, taking risks with new versions, or showcasing their skills with large-sized omelettes.
