The town of Soto del Real is gearing up to launch its sports season with the Sunset Run, a night and charity race scheduled for Saturday, September 12th.

This initiative, organized by residents Óscar Martín López and Alejandro Guerrero Serrano, aims to blend sports, leisure, and solidarity. The event is designed to offer a healthy and engaging activity, particularly for the local youth who increasingly seek such proposals.
The Sunset Run is not just a competition; it also incorporates a significant charitable component. 50% of the registration fees will be donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), supporting research and aid for patients and their families.
To accommodate participants of varying experience levels, the race will offer two routes: a 7.5-kilometer course, suitable for beginners, and an 11-kilometer challenge with increased elevation and difficulty, aimed at more seasoned runners and those wishing to explore the demanding Sierra environment.
Organizers emphasize their goal of inclusivity, ensuring each participant can find a suitable modality. Both the start and finish lines will be located in the central Soto del Real square, with the two races commencing shortly after each other.
The natural surroundings of Soto del Real will also be a highlight, encouraging residents to experience their municipality from a new perspective. The initiative stems from a desire to promote local activities and celebrate the enjoyment of the Sierra landscape by those who live there.
Following the competition and awards ceremony, the day will conclude with a flamenco concert by Fideo y Cata. This festive element, open to everyone, aims to make the Sunset Run a comprehensive community event.
Registration, which closes on Monday, September 7th, at midnight, can be completed via the Soto del Real City Council's website or through the link available on the Sunset Run's social media profiles.
Organizers Óscar Martín López and Alejandro Guerrero Serrano are already planning future events, including a beach volleyball tournament in October and a basketball tournament in November, aiming to establish this sports and leisure initiative within the municipality.
