San Lorenzo de El Escorial has launched Reutiliza SanLo, a new mobile application that aims to connect residents to give a second life to objects deposited at the Municipal Clean Point, thereby fostering the circular economy.

The Reutiliza SanLo application allows citizens to photograph items they wish to deposit, and an artificial intelligence processes the information to create a catalog. Interested users can reserve items, which will be stored at the Clean Point until collection.
According to the Councilor for Youth, Ana Callejo Fernández-Quejo, the app aims to transform clean points into "active centers of circular economy and community reuse," emphasizing that "every second chance we give an object is a step towards a more sustainable San Lorenzo."
Reutiliza SanLo is now available on Play Store and AppStore. It was the winning idea of Juventud Innova 2025, a project by Diego Romero and Gonzalo Rein from Godiki Apps & Webs SL.
The creators presented the application at the Clean Point, explaining that it digitizes an analog process to facilitate reuse and reach more people, with the goal of increasing the current reuse rate, which barely reaches 1%, before the recycling phase.
The collected data will allow for the calculation of the carbon footprint and the generation of reports for the Environment department. After its implementation in San Lorenzo, they expect to extend the application to other municipalities.
The project originated from identifying a problem and seeking a tool to promote reuse, receiving support from the City Council after winning the Juventud Innova awards, which aim to foster innovative ideas and create business opportunities in the municipality.
