Rail traffic between El Escorial and Zarzalejo has been partially restored this Friday, following the derailment of a freight train that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

According to information from Renfe and Adif, one of the tracks affected by the incident is now allowing trains to pass since early this morning. The derailment took place on Wednesday around 5:30 PM, near La Manguilla park, when several axles of a freight train left the tracks, encroaching on the adjacent track's clearance.
Adif personnel continue to work towards the full recovery of circulation. Sources from the organization, which depends on the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, confirmed that repair efforts are ongoing.

"ADIF personnel continue to work towards the full recovery of circulation."

The incident has affected some medium-distance trains on the Madrid – León – San Sebastián line. Renfe expects the situation to be fully resolved throughout today.

"I thought my house was falling down from the loud noise, I thought it was an earthquake, and I'm thankful it wasn't a passenger train, but a freight train heading towards Zarzalejo."
