The municipality of Moralzarzal is currently without a Civil Protection ambulance service, leading the municipal group Vecinos por Moralzarzal to file an urgent motion, accusing the local Government of a lack of foresight and management.
The situation arises because the current vehicle has exceeded the legal limit of 10 years of useful life established by Royal Decree 836/2012, rendering it unfit to attend to health emergencies in the town. This circumstance, according to the opposition, was entirely foreseeable.
“
"This fact was fully foreseeable from the moment of its acquisition in 2016."
The Vecinos por Moralzarzal group criticizes the explanations from the local Government team, which attributes the situation to bureaucratic problems or the non-approval of municipal budgets. The opposition insists that the lack of budget is not a valid excuse, as other expenses such as bullfighting festivals and land purchases are being prioritized.
“
"It is a matter of political will. If there is money for the mayor's whims, there must be money for an ambulance that saves lives."
The motion presented by Vecinos spokesperson, Gema Duque, urges the Plenary to take immediate measures, including the urgent acquisition of a new vehicle, budgetary prioritization, and the development of a renewal plan for Civil Protection materials. It also seeks to reactivate proactive management to obtain external co-financing, as was done in the previous legislature.
For his part, the spokesperson for the Moralzarzal Government team, Fernando Cobo, has responded to the accusations, pointing out that the opposition voted against the budgets that included the purchase of an ambulance. Furthermore, he recalled that it was the Vecinos por Moralzarzal group who, in 2015, caused the 112 base to leave the municipality, a service that the current Government managed to recover two years ago.
“
"It is a scandal that the left of Moralzarzal complains about something that just four months ago led to their vote against it. Yes, on two occasions, Vecinos por Moralzarzal voted against the budgets that included the purchase of an ambulance, among other investments that would improve the quality of life of the residents."
