The Government of Moralzarzal has addressed criticism from Vecinos, the main opposition group, defending the €383,000 investment in repairing the M-615, a key road affected by 2025 floods.
The Vecinos party has labeled the expenditure, funded through the Community of Madrid's PIR program, as an «irresponsible waste» and an electoral maneuver that will not resolve the road's structural issues. However, the local Executive has explained via social media that the works aim to restore the safety and functionality of one of the municipality's busiest routes.
These works primarily aim to restore the safety and functionality of one of the municipality's busiest roads after the damage suffered last year.
Cándido Carrillo, Councillor for Networks and Services, detailed that the planned actions include a complete asphalt renovation of the affected section, the installation of public lighting to enhance night visibility, and the repainting of horizontal road markings, all crucial for safer driving.
“
"We want driving here to be much calmer and safer for everyone."
Meanwhile, Fernando Cobo, spokesperson for the PP, added that these works will provide the necessary asphalt and lighting that the road previously lacked, ensuring optimal safety. He specified that the Community of Madrid will contribute €140,000, with the remainder coming from the Moralzarzal Town Council's own funds.

"It seems that the left-wing parties in Moralzarzal are bothered by Moralzarzal improving, wanting to discredit this investment to those who for 8 years were unable to fix this road, those who carried out works at prices 7 times higher, without bidding and without a project. I don't understand how the left opposes the real needs of all residents of Moralzarzal. Well, this work has been publicly projected and tendered, and we are sure that it will significantly improve the quality of life for the residents of Moralzarzal."
The Town Council has prioritized the swift execution of the works to minimize disruption to drivers, estimating a completion period of just two months once construction begins.
