Community of Madrid Adds 191 New Local Police Officers

The total number of police personnel in the region now exceeds 11,000 following the graduation of new officers trained at IFISE.

The Community of Madrid has enhanced its citizen security with the incorporation of 191 new Local Police officers, raising the total number of personnel in the region to nearly 11,000. These new professionals will be deployed across 24 Madrid municipalities after completing their basic training.

The Community of Madrid has reached a total of 10,958 Local Police officers thanks to the addition of 191 new personnel. These officers will be distributed among 24 municipalities in the region, including towns such as Cercedilla, Collado Villalba, El Escorial, Galapagar, Torrelodones, San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and Valdemorillo.
The training for these new officers took place at the Institute for Integral Training in Security and Emergencies (IFISE), an internationally recognized center. The basic training selective course, comprising 786 academic hours, graduated 141 men and 50 women. The Minister of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior, Carlos Novillo, presided over the closing ceremony and diploma awards.

Alcobendas and Fuenlabrada are the municipalities incorporating the most new officers, with 32 personnel each. They are followed by Parla (16), Tres Cantos (15), Pozuelo de Alarcón (13), and San Martín de la Vega (12). Other municipalities such as Madrid, Navalcarnero, San Sebastián de los Reyes, San Agustín del Guadalix, Villanueva de la Cañada, and Villanueva del Pardillo also add new members to their police forces.
The Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior plans an investment exceeding 300 million euros between 2026 and 2029, through the Comprehensive Security Strategy (ESICAM179). This initiative aims to improve officer ratios, promote municipal associations for police service provision, and standardize resources and corporate image.
