Guadarrama joins the celebration of World Environment Day on June 5th with central events in the Plaza Mayor and a week of environmental activities at Guadarrama Hospital.

The main event will take place at 12:00 PM in the Plaza Mayor, where small trees donated by IMIDRA will be distributed along with native aromatic plants. In the arcades of the same square, visitors can see an exhibition of recycled objects created by local artisans, a display usually housed at Guadarrama Hospital which is also being presented in the square this year.
The Guadarrama University Associated Hospital, through its Socio-sanitary Social Responsibility Commission, has organized a program of activities throughout the week. This includes an exhibition of objects made from recycled and reused materials in the Teaching Room, with the collaboration of the Visitor Center of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park and the E.E.I. El Tomillar of Torrelodones.
Activities continue on Wednesday, June 3rd, with a garbage collection at the La Jarosa reservoir, part of the global '1M² against litter' initiative. On Thursday, June 4th, a 'Care for the Planet' gymkhana will be held in the hospital gardens, with a 100 euro prize for the winning team.
On Friday, June 5th, coinciding with World Environment Day, the hospital invites residents to share their environmental actions in the center's hall, receiving a surprise gift. The celebration in Guadarrama also has the support of the Pastores sin Fronteras Association, which promotes transhumance as sustainable grazing.
