The festival will open on August 28 at the Teatro Auditorio with the program 'Los colores de América,' featuring works by American composers like John Adams, performed by the Joven Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid (JORCAM) under the baton of Alondra de la Parra. The following day, guitarist and composer Yamandú Costa will present 'Milongas y Choros' in the same venue.
The program continues on September 3 with the premiere of 'Nascencia' by the Ballet Español de la Comunidad de Madrid. On September 4, the ORCAM and the RTVE Choir will perform Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2, also conducted by Alondra de la Parra. Additionally, the Real Coliseo will host Chula the Clown's show 'Pehaps, perhaps… Quizás'.
One of the most anticipated moments will be the Spanish premiere of a new production of Bizet's opera Carmen on September 12. This production will feature the voices of mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez, tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz, and baritone Tomasso Barea, with musical direction by Alondra de la Parra and stage direction by Bárbara Lluch.
The festival will culminate with the performance of renowned conductor Daniel Barenboim on September 19, accompanied by the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. This concert will focus on masterpieces by Wagner, Schubert, and Beethoven, promising a stellar close to the event.
