During the summer period, various works for the conservation, modernization, and expansion of infrastructure have been carried out in the educational centers of El Escorial. The mayor, Antonio Vicente, and the councilor for Education, Antonio Lobo, supervised the final improvements at the CEP Felipe II and CEI Padre Gerardo Gil, ensuring their readiness for the start of the school year.
At the CEP Felipe II, the largest part of the investment, 396,604 euros, was allocated to the replacement of metal window frames to improve thermal insulation and comfort. Of this amount, 246,604 euros come from the municipal Treasury surplus and 150,000 euros from the Cooperation Program for Municipal Works and Services of the Community of Madrid.
Other interventions at Felipe II include the replacement of vinyl flooring in the sports hall (funded by the Regional Investment Program - PIR), the conversion of the old boiler room into a new storage area for the school's kitchen, and the installation of two portable prefabricated bleachers on the outdoor sports court. These works amount to 98,141 euros.
Meanwhile, at the CEI Padre Gerardo Gil, works are nearing completion to eliminate the risk of falling debris by replacing false ceilings and securing the joists in the main building's corridors, with an investment from the Community of Madrid of 35,516.99 euros. The exterior metal enclosure's height has also been raised to enhance facility security, and the main entrance's intercom has been changed.
Furthermore, a project funded by the PIR for 94,295 euros will be put out to tender to install a light roof over part of the outdoor patio at Padre Gerardo Gil, creating new shaded areas and improving student well-being during warmer months. This action is in the tendering phase and will be carried out before the end of the year.
