The El Escorial City Council will implement a free service starting June 23rd, allowing registered residents to obtain and renew their electronic signature certificate.

This municipal initiative aims to bring the administration closer to citizens and facilitate online procedures, ensuring the authenticity and integrity of digitally signed documents, which serve as an identification equivalent for internet services.
The issuance and renewal of these certificates are personal and non-delegable procedures requiring the applicant's physical presence and the presentation of their DNI or NIE. The council will automatically verify the residency of those applying.

"We are taking another step in adapting to the new tools that are currently necessary in many cases to interact with electronic administration, which is why this service is an improvement and we hope it will be well-received, just as the PAD (Electronic DNI Update Point) is."
