The Hoyo de Manzanares City Council has organized an extensive program for Book Week 2026, taking place from April 20 to 26, transforming the municipality into a hub of literary activities for all ages.

To mark Book Day, celebrated on April 23, the town of Hoyo de Manzanares will offer a varied cultural agenda. The event aims to promote reading among residents and visitors, with proposals ranging from literary discussions and storytelling to author visits and creative workshops.
Among the novelties of this edition is the implementation of a book exchange point, which will be available throughout the week at the entrance of the Camilo José Cela Municipal Library. Additionally, the seventh edition of the Literary Pasapalabra will be held, a competition that will test participants' knowledge in children/youth and adult categories. Adult questions will be based on bibliographic novelties from 2025, while the children/youth category will draw inspiration from the 40th Exhibition of Children's and Youth Books of the Community of Madrid.
The program also includes specific educational activities for students from CEIP Virgen de la Encina and IES Francisco Ayala. The IES will kick off with narratives about Greek Myths and Bohemian Lights, while CEIP students will enjoy proposals adapted to their levels, such as poetic exploration with Rodorín and intercultural workshops with African tales.
On Thursday, April 23, the Cultural Center will host Wooden and Tin Tales with Juan Malabar at 6:00 PM, aimed at children. Simultaneously, Héctor Urién will present a contemporary version of Romeo and Juliet in the Exhibition Hall, recommended for ages 16 and up.
On Friday, April 24, the Camilo José Cela Municipal Library will be the setting for a new Reading with Family at 5:30 PM and the Youth Reading Club at 6:30 PM. The day will conclude with a Cervantine Discussion at 7:00 PM, open to all audiences.
Book Week will conclude on Sunday, April 26, with the traditional Book Fair, where local authors will present their works and various literary activities will take place in a festive and cultural atmosphere.
