Worker dies buried in a trench in Galapagar

A worker died this Wednesday in Galapagar after being buried by a landslide of earth and slabs while working in a trench.

An operator has lost his life in a work accident that occurred in the Madrid municipality of Galapagar. The incident happened when a landslide of earth and slabs buried the worker in the trench where he was performing his duties.
Six units from the Bomberos de la Comunidad de Madrid (Community of Madrid Firefighters) were dispatched to the scene. After a rescue operation that lasted approximately four hours, the personnel managed to recover the victim's body. The firefighters had to secure the trench beforehand to ensure a safe working area before proceeding with the extraction.
During the operation, a psychologist from SUMMA 112 provided assistance to the victim's family and colleagues. Personnel from Protección Civil de Galapagar (Galapagar Civil Protection) and the Local Police also collaborated in the operation. The Guardia Civil (Civil Guard) has taken charge of the investigation to clarify the exact causes of the accident.
