The Civil Guard has dismantled a violent youth group in Galapagar, in the northwest of the Community of Madrid, resulting in the arrest of six individuals, mostly minors, and the investigation of three others for various crimes.

The operation began after several complaints filed in March by minors who claimed to have been assaulted by a group of young people, some of them hooded. The victims were forced to perform gestures characteristic of these gangs while being recorded by their attackers.
Officers also detected an increase in violent assaults in the town over recent months, allegedly committed by members of the group. The motivation for these assaults was the alleged connection of the victims to rival gangs.

"This type of group seeks to control certain geographical areas through violence and increase its members by recruiting minors."

Membership in these organizations constitutes a crime of integration into a criminal group, which can lead to sentences of internment in centers for minors. In 2012, the Supreme Court confirmed the dissolution of a similar group in the Community of Madrid, considering it an illicit association.
In addition to the arrests, the operation has clarified three aggravated robberies in mobile catering establishments and six robberies inside vehicles. The action was carried out by the Civil Guard of Madrid, with the collaboration of the Municipal Police of Madrid and the Local Police of Galapagar.
