The fall of several large arizonica trees caused the collapse of a residential complex's wall in Majadahonda, occupying several parking spots. The debris, including trunks, branches, and rubble, has remained in the area for months after the incident, raising concerns among residents about safety and the unusable public space.
The affected area is located at the entrance of Travesía de la Estación, at the corner of Zepol street, a common transit point for parents taking their children to María Auxiliadora school and for those heading to the Cercanías Train Station. The complex involved, El Rocío del Plantío, has its main entrance on Virgen de Icíar street.
Although the firefighters initially acted to clear the main thoroughfare, the responsibility for the complete removal of the debris reportedly falls on the property owners' association. It is recalled that during Filomena, the Madrid City Council handled community damages, but the management of fallen trees on private property was left to their owners.
Residents are urging the property owners' association to act swiftly to restore both the damaged wall and the affected parking spaces. There is concern that the situation may persist into winter, and questions are raised about the lack of intervention from Majadahonda's municipal police given the prolonged state of neglect in an area with high pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
