The Mayor of Torrelodones, Almudena Negro, received the document from Pedro Corbalán, CEO of Planifica Madrid. This project will be funded through the Regional Supramunicipal Investment Plan, exceeding initial financial estimates.
“"It is clear that when municipal and regional governments work hand in hand, dreams come true. And Torrelodones had been dreaming of the Commuter Station car park for 20 years."
Negro, accompanied by the Councillor for Urban Planning, Antonio Iraizoz, and the Councillor for Environment, Javier Tato, emphasized that this is “the largest investment ever made in Torrelodones by the Community of Madrid.” She also announced that project infographics will be displayed at the Casa de Cultura, the Sports Centre, and the Town Hall so residents can visualize the realization of this initiative.
Pedro Corbalán detailed that the new building will be modern and functional, designed to integrate harmoniously into the surroundings. Adjacent streets will be reconfigured to promote coexistence between vehicles and pedestrians. The car park will have 272 spaces, and construction is expected to begin this summer, lasting approximately 22 months. This design is based on a preliminary project developed by the Department of Urban Planning under the direction of Antonio Iraizoz.
The main objective is to facilitate access to the Cercanías Station for residents of Torrelodones and nearby towns, encouraging more efficient use of public transport. The land designated for this infrastructure is municipal property. The Mayor had previously visited the plot last summer with the Councillor for Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, highlighting that the lack of this car park had been a significant problem for both residents and local businesses.
