The Torrelodones City Council will debate the Calle Real parking project this Thursday, which has already faced opposition votes from Vecinos, Vox, and PSOE in a preliminary committee.

The ordinary plenary session of the Torrelodones City Council, scheduled for this Thursday, June 18, will address the economic-financial feasibility study for the construction of a parking facility on Calle Real. Despite the Vecinos por Torrelodones, Vox, and PSOE groups voting against the proposal in the prior informative commission, their votes are non-binding. The revised project incorporates the objections raised by residents during the public exposition period.
Municipal sources explained that this is not the first time these three parties have opposed the parking project, an initiative deemed a priority by Almudena Negro's government to enhance mobility in the central area. They reiterated that the parking facility will be underground, adhering to urban planning regulations that prohibit above-ground structures, and will incur no cost to the municipal treasury.
The mayor of Torrelodones criticized the alliance of the three parties, accusing them of voting against the transparency and citizen participation they promote on social media.
For their part, the Popular Party has strongly criticized the opposing votes. Its Secretary of Communication, Óscar Fernández, denounced these "socialist" groups for attempting to block the project, which is based on residents' objections. According to the PP, data from two national polling firms, conducted between April 29 and May 4, 2026, indicates that parking is the primary concern for residents, followed by road surfacing – issues that these groups have "vetoed".
The PP of Torrelodones announced they will proceed with the project, relying on the resident support that led to their majority in 2023 and which they expect to reaffirm in 2027. They have indicated that the parking issue will be brought to the plenary for groups to "publicly reveal their stance" and that the Calle Real parking will be a key topic in the 2027 elections.
Fernández also addressed the urban gardens controversy, accusing the "three losers" of "lying." He clarified that the gardens will not disappear and have been extended until December 2026 to avoid harming harvests, while respecting the law that limits concessions to four years – a limit he claims the other parties disregard.
He concluded by stating that the 2027 municipal elections will be "decisive" for Torrelodones, presenting a choice between "socialism" (represented by VxT, Vox, and PSOE) and "Liberty."
