The Torrelodones Town Council, through its Education and Culture departments, has designed an extensive agenda of activities to commemorate Book Day, aimed at the educational community and all residents of the municipality.

From April 20 to 24, the School Cultural Week will bring together all educational centers in the town during morning hours. Throughout these days, various proposals adapted to each educational stage will be carried out, from storytelling for the first cycle of Early Childhood Education, by Primigenius and Juan Malabar, to puppet shows with Marimba Marionetas for the second cycle.
Students in first and second grade of Primary School will enjoy the musical theater Pinocha, by Planeta Dubbi. Additionally, Primary School students will participate in activities such as The museum visits your school: animated art, by Avance Extraescolares, a batucada with the group Hakuna Ma Samba, and the magic show El carromato mágico, by Gustavo Otero.
The municipal libraries and the Bulevar Theater will be the hub of the Cultural Book Week, running from April 20 to 25. The program includes storytelling, baby storytelling, book exchange sessions, theatrical performances, adult narratives, and various reading clubs, distributed throughout the town and the Colonia.
Within the framework of this initiative, a School Literary Meeting has been organized where students will work on the theme “The Story” in their centers. Early Childhood students will contribute with drawings, while other educational stages will create literary compositions. Each center will select one work per grade, which will be awarded and exhibited at the Book Fair.
The Cultural Book Week will kick off on April 20 with the first day of book exchange at the Juan Van-Halen and José de Vicente Muñoz libraries, allowing the exchange of up to five good-condition copies per day, free of charge. This activity will be repeated daily until April 25.
On Wednesday, April 22, at 6:00 PM, the Juan Van-Halen library will host the baby storytelling “Al ritmo de las manos” with Israel Hergón, aimed at children aged 0 to 3 years. For older children, on Thursday, April 23, at 6:00 PM, the José de Vicente Muñoz Library will present the storytelling “Dragones y ratones, los poetas más molones” by Beatriz Pérez, for children aged 4 and up. Invitations can be collected one hour before the start at the library itself.
As a special event for Book Day, on Thursday, April 23, at 7:00 PM, the Bulevar Theater will present the play Yo sé quien soy, y soy Sancho Panza. This soliloquy, performed by a single actor embodying more than fifteen characters, explores what would happen if Sancho Panza forgot his past with Don Quijote.
On Friday, April 24, at 6:00 PM at the Juan Van-Halen Library, Raúl Tirado will present the oral narration for adults “Retales”, with free admission until full capacity. During Book and Language Week, the Torrelodones reading clubs will continue their sessions at the Juan Van Halen Library, with readings such as La vegetariana, La canción de Aquiles, and La primera mano que sostuvo la mía.
The program will culminate with the Book Fair on Saturday, April 25, in the Plaza de la Constitución, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The official inauguration, at 11:30 AM, will include the presentation of awards to the students selected in the Literary Meeting. The fair will feature the participation of publishers, bookstores, associations, and educational centers, as well as the presence of authors for book signings.
