The closing ceremony of the Municipal Sports Games in Pozuelo de Alarcón, which involved over 3,000 students aged between nine and 18, took place last Friday. The event, presided over by mayor Paloma Tejero, was held at the Daniela Kaiser pavilion in the Valle de las Cañas Sports City.
During the ceremony, trophies were awarded to the winning teams in the basketball, volleyball, 7-a-side football, and 11-a-side football competitions held throughout the season. According to the City Council of Pozuelo, the season included over 1,600 matches and the participation of 191 teams from 28 educational centers.
The Municipal Sports Games, now in its 47th edition, were described as "pioneering" in the Community of Madrid and "a benchmark training ground at a regional level," as highlighted by the Pozuelo council.
In her speech, the mayor emphasized the effort of the young athletes throughout the year and encouraged them to continue facing new challenges, highlighting values such as respect, teamwork, responsibility, and personal improvement.
The event concluded with the presentation of 67 trophies to the winning teams in their respective categories. The ceremony was also attended by the Councilor for Sports, Luis Magide, and the Councilor for Education, Almudena Ruiz.
