Following previous editions attended by figures such as Queen Letizia, Mayoress Almudena Negro, and Minister Ana Redondo, this year's event highlights intellectual disability and how sports foster participation, inclusion, and opportunity creation.
The event will take place at 11:00 AM at the Casa de Cultura Paco de Lucía in Torrelodones, in collaboration with the City Council and Club Jansen BT. Inclusion thus joins the project's core essence, maintaining its commitment to Save a Girl Save a Generation.
Participation in sports activities is seen as a way for individuals with intellectual disabilities to develop autonomy, gain confidence, and actively integrate into society. However, it is emphasized that inclusion requires a joint effort from families, educational centers, public administrations, social entities, and companies.
The Götze Foundation, a non-profit organization, inspires this edition's content. Its mission is to promote the participation of individuals with intellectual disabilities in society, respecting their rights, dignity, and preferences.
The event will gather representatives from social, sports, business, and institutional sectors to discuss sports' contribution to a more participatory and inclusive society. Members of the Götze Foundation will be interviewed to explore how sports drive participation, how participation fosters inclusion, and how inclusion generates opportunities.
Students from educational centers will attend to share real-life experiences with young people, and company representatives will reflect on training, professional development, and labor inclusion. The event will feature interventions from athletes and representatives of the Götze Foundation, Spanish basketball, and the business and institutional spheres.
In its first edition in 2024, also held in Torrelodones, the initiative raised funds for the ‘Safe in Nairobi’ shelter, managed by the NGO “Save a Girl Save a Generation”.
