The image of the Santísimo Cristo de los Remedios, patron saint of Majadahonda, requires urgent intervention due to a crack on the right side of its face and wear accumulated over the years. This situation has led the Brotherhood to decide to restore the figure, a process that will keep the Ermita del Cristo closed until its completion.
The restoration is crucial, as the festivities in honor of the patron will be celebrated in less than five months. The Brotherhood has appealed to the community to alleviate the financial burden of this project, inviting donations via Bizum (Concept: Hdad del Cristo, Campaign: 13131) or directly at the Parroquia de Santa Catalina Mártir.
From this media outlet, we call on all those who wish to ease the financial burden on the members of this Brotherhood to cover the cost of restoring our Christ, a gesture of gratitude and recognition to all those who daily watch over the well-being of our Patron.
Founded in the 17th century as a confraternity, the Brotherhood of Santísimo Cristo de los Remedios currently has 211 members. Although Majadahonda has over 73,000 inhabitants, the influx of faithful is massive during processions. The annual fee to be a brother is €20. Those interested in joining or collaborating can contact via email remediosysoledadmajadahonda@gmail.com, phone 630247874, or request information at the Parroquia de Santa Catalina Mártir.
The deterioration is not limited to the image of Christ; the structure of the Parroquia Santa Catalina Mártir, an emblematic building in the municipality, also needs reforms. Collections from the first Sundays of each month are allocated for this purpose. The Brotherhood suggests that the Majadahonda City Council consider a collaboration agreement to cover part of these costly expenses, similar to agreements it maintains with other non-profit private entities, such as the Francisco Umbral Foundation or the Circle of Businessmen and Merchants of Majadahonda.
