CD Galapagar has formalized the renewal of its coach, Javi Zamorano, who will extend his contract with the club for another season. This decision, anticipated after a successful campaign, seals the continuity of the coach who has managed to lead the team to its highest sporting expression.
The renewal comes after the team secured its permanence in Tercera RFEF, avoiding relegation by association. The agreement between the club and Zamorano, who resides in Alcorcón, was forged after a meeting with sporting director Juan Manuel Mourazo and was approved by the board chaired by Jorge Greciano, who has backed a 'long-term coach' project.
The announcement, made on May 31st, coincides with the second anniversary of Zamorano's arrival at the club. The coach expressed his gratitude: “Being at Galapagar is a daily thank you. It is very difficult to find teams like this in Spanish football. It means responsibility to make people enjoy, to respond to everyone at the club who is trusting in me and the staff, and who are always there through good and bad times. It is a sense of belonging from day one that is hard to explain, but it is very big and unique”.
Javi Zamorano has earned his renewal by being the first coach in Galapagar's history to qualify the team for a promotion playoff to Segunda RFEF. In his 70 official matches at the helm of Chopo (68 in the league and 2 in the playoffs), he has achieved 25 victories and a total of exactly 100 points. In his first season, he reached fifth place, the club's historic best.
The club has also confirmed the continuity of other key players such as Greci, Pablo Buceta, and Juan de la Torre, considered club emblems for their trajectory from lower categories. Sergio Pliego, Sergio García, and Manuel Serrano will also remain with the squad. The sporting department is working to secure the retention of other important players for the fans.
